defining "recess"
Wednesday, February 25, 2009
my most unproductive holidays yet.but, wait. technically - this is supposed to be recess week, right?! i mean, who studies during school recess? everyone will be slacking, chatting and eating what. so how is that different from recess week? but then again, this is"technically" speaking.
in reality, everyone is cramming like hell. catch up on readings - which i seriously have tonnes to do especially for FSD1201 and SSA2219. these people make me rest in guilt! and mugger island at NUS Central Library is packed. what is going on in the world?!
however, i did manage to accomplish some stuff, HAHA, the PF1103 report. OVER and DONE. and i also managed to finish one lab report. nonetheless, i still do have more stuffs :(
tmr: run + read FSD materials + revise lecture 1 and 2 of Genes & Society.

the song of the moment!
Friday, February 20, 2009

did i tell you that i'm addicted to kelly clarkson's:
My Life will Suck without You!
there's this bad habit of mine. when i like something, i'll keep repeating that same song over and over again, until i'm eventually bored. but seriously, this song rocks! and the music video is simple yet awesome. yeah, i'm so addicted to this!
when i tell my friends about this song, they will be like: why matin, why will your life suck without me? and i'll go like: OF COURSE my life won't suck without you, it's a song, idiot!

it's break time - awesoooome (:
i'm somehow glad that the week has ended and recess week is here! i need the break, desperately. although i know that this coming recess week is gonna be packed with research + work, the only consolation is the fact that there's NO clementi mrt station, bus 96, bus 188 and NO SCHOOL. yeah balls.i think my blog is so bare - no pictures from cam-whoring activities. urgh. so black and grey. there are so many "fun" things that i wanna do, but unfortunately no time. i need a life. i want to watch valkerie, redeem the STB passes for Singapore Flyer and Singapore River Cruises, have dinner at some slightly fancy place - cos it has ben a long time since i last did that with my friends, cycle and go johore eat seafood (a crazy idea from ilyas and carol - but knowing how boring my life is, i think i want to give it a shot! but seriously, can we not go there by foot? its so, unglam laa!)
so yeah, preparations for YEP hasn't been much except for the long hours of meetings at rather weird places, HAHA. and it just occured to me of the numerous tasks that lies ahead, yesterday! i hate the prep. i just wish i could skip all that pre expedition stuff and go straight to the trip!
speaking of prep work, i had to recce shops for the cheapest deals as part of our fund raising efforts and the past few days especially, have been tiring. i almost died walking under the blazing sun along bras basah road - and let me tell you something, there's really nothing there. all the hype about craft materials being sold at a dirt cheap price, no longer do exist.
then yesterday, i was supposed to meet a few of the YEP members to hunt for "kraft paper bags" for packaging at the Concourse, beach road. But apparently, no one was free except for soefie, who's in charge of publicity. So yeah, both of us had to make our way there from school, bearing high hopes that we will be able to find something cheap and good - and we even strategise as to how we are gonna go about searching the 4 storey complex. After like walking forever, we reached the place, only to realise that the entire complex has beed demolished to make way for a new condo - what are the odds man! the shops are now relocated to Tekka Mall, Little India. As, we were already late for the YEP meeting at boat quay Macs (i did tell you right, that the meetings were held at weird places?), we decided not to continue our hunt and thus make our way to the meeting place. AND it was BY FOOT. it was a long long walk - but it wasn't so bad cos i think i survived looking almost dead by the end of the meeting (1130pm) yesterday.
but it was fun, i think. HAHA.
i am so malas, can. and i need to send farah the details for my orders, asap. urgh.
it's never ending.

the boat is sinking

i think i'm drowning in my own pile of work. there's just too many and it has really come to a point where i believe somehow, yeah - somehow, it will eventually fall in place, one at a time. PRIORITISE.
nonetheless, i think i can pull through this, just like before. it will be tough, i agree...but it will be alright eventually, i hope.
there are just some people in this world who's ______. it's like every time, i have to do this all over again and the thing is, i'm not really in the right frame of mind for it. so, all i'm asking is for you to make it easier.
i just need one day, yes: A DAY - "matin's day" for myself to escape from all the crap i'm facing. i need my personal time badly!
tired and sick of everything, really.
but, on a happier note, i really think this semester has been different, in more ways than one. definitely better, somehow despite the above mentioned stuffs. don't ask me why, but it's the sort of feeling that you get, knowing something good will come out of it.
help.

OH MY GAWD.WORK IS NEVER ENDING.
i am feeling it already. week 5 of the academic term. oh gosh, it's awfully stressful but i have to manage it somehow. and this is barely the peak of the semester! never mind, one thing at a time.
anyway, yeah due to the immense work load, i've decided to take time off to blog about a few issues. as you would probably have known, i have somewhat committed myself to the youth expedition project that is to be held in june, during the semester break. and because of that, i'll be involved in the islamic awareness week in NUS. more work for me. but it's all for a good cause. anw, met the people from the team to china and i have to say, they are slightly different from the usual set of friends that i hang out with. but i think it will be a good influence on me. i've been like so devil-ish laaa, relatively speaking. in general, they are really nice and have been very welcoming. and the best part is, i don't foresee any major conflicting ideas or difficult working relationships in the coming days, so: i'm great! OFF TO YUNNAN! :) oh, please do support me for the islamic awareness week! HAHAHA, like patronise my stall in school or something :)
SDE BASH. yes, i was involved as an unwilling participant for my faculty's annual pageant. i've said this many times and i still do hold strongly to my point of pageants. they are so superficial and it brings out the "fakeness" in people! and the irony of it all - i was part of it. oh god. nonetheless, i still had fun cos of the people in it and to a large extent i think i was the only one who gives the least preparation for it! HAHA. everything was like for that spur of the moment. nothing prepared at all. even the clothes i wore - my attitude was like, anything laa, whatever goes! the question and answer segment was really fun i think, cos i get to really speak my mind off about anything under the sun. and so, you can really predict what kind of answers i gave. nothing close to pageant-friendly responses. HAHAHA. but like i said, i had fun and i surprisingly enjoyed it.
ah, one more thing. somehow, i seriously do not know how. i was asked to be part of the marketing collateral photoshoot for the faculty's publicity in NUS freshman magazine. it was really quite fun, pretending to work with drafts and building models. and we had to go to numerous places for the shoot like esplanade, marina bay and fullerton. So, if all goes well, i'll appear in those publications for the new academic year that is specific to my course of study.
school has been hectic, but i'm still surviving. hopefully i'm able to sustain.
valentines day on saturday, and the influx of hearts, flowers, chocolates, cookies and song dedications have taken place in the respective corners of the school. quite annoying but i guess, the worst is yet to come, FRIDAY 13th - the eve of valentines day. so, what will i be doing on the 14th of FEB?? HAHAHA. Interestingly, i have a school fieldtrip to LITTLE INDIA for my Singapore Studies module. how interesting! (but seriously, i do love fieldtrips!)
thats about it.
tired.drained.lifeless.
MY LIFE WILL SUCK WITHOUT YOUU :)
photos will be up soooon, i hope.
